EMR Takes Flight at AAIR
15:12
Medical practices face a host of challenges as they convert their practices to electronic medical records (EMR) systems. These practices aren't just implementing a new technology system, they are bringing on a new way of working. This can be a bit scary and very expensive. Consequently, many medical offices procrastinate. There are, however, forward-thinking practices that see the benefits of EMR systems in terms of workplace efficiencies and benefits for the patients and they also recognize the potential impact of the government stimulus package. These practices are taking a gradual and phased approach to implementing EMR systems.
In this 15 minute podcast, Dr. Peter Deane of Allergy Asthma Immunology of Rochester (AAIR) and Irfan Iqbal of Sequel Systems discuss AAIR’s phased implementation of a new electronic medical records system, as well as the financial, operational and patient care benefits experienced since going live, and the potential impact of the stimulus package.
Dr. Peter Deane underscores the fact that gradual implementation approach of SequelMed EMR had helped AAIR to make swift transition to electronic medical records, beginning with e-prescribing and gradually moving on to other aspects of SequelMed’s EMR solution. He further adds that AAIR is committed to implementing newly launched SequelMed Patient Portal as a model for enhancing communication between patients and physicians.
Irfan Iqbal discusses from an EMR vendor’s perspective, addressing key issues facilitating EMR adoption and explaining how practices can improve with proper EMR implementation. Highlighting the three key points that differentiated SequelMed EMR from the rest, Irfan Iqbal points out:
User friendliness and customizability
Phased approach to EMR implementation
