Sequel Systems EHR Receives ONC-ACB 2014 Meaningful Use Certification

Melville, NY – April 23, 2014 – Sequel Systems, Inc, a dynamic, service-oriented healthcare technology company, announced today that its Electronic Health Record (EHR), SequelMed EHR V10 has been tested and certified under Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records ONC-ACB program.  The ONC-ACB program is administered through the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology (HIT). It permits certain Authorized Certification Bodies, like Drummond Group, to provide accreditation to HIT products that pass a rigorous evaluation process.

The SequelMed EHR V10 is 2014 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). By achieving ONC-ACB certification, users of the SequelMed EHR V10 can meet the 2014 Stage 2 Meaningful Use measures required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to qualify for incentive payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

In addition to the monetary incentives offered by CMS, the adoption of EHRs yields multiple benefits for providers and patients, including:

  • Improved quality of care
  • Increased patient safety
  • Enhanced customer satisfaction
  • Increased office management efficiency

Facilities and practices using a certified EHR may also experience increased profitability through reduced costs and increased revenue.

“Choosing to test with The Drummond Group made sense for Sequel Systems because the organization is an independent leader in testing methodologies and test process management,” said Khurshid Mughal, CEO and President of Sequel Systems. “Given the level of experience The Drummond Group has, it offers a greater level of confidence to our customers and partners that the SequelMed EHR meets the requirements as set forth by The Office of National Coordinator.”

“Leveraging information technology for healthcare initiatives provides the opportunity to deliver a high-level quality of care and efficiency which essentially benefits and enhances the overall patient experience,” says Rik Drummond, CEO of Drummond Group. “We have been testing software for more than a decade and will continue to provide our extensive experience testing and certifying complex systems for multiple industries, as well as ensuring interoperability and security remain key components in the growing healthcare industry.”

Sequel Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of EHR and practice management products and solutions, serving approximately 12,000 physicians in North America. Stage 2 Meaningful Use Certification of SequelMed’s EHR means clients seeking federal incentives will be technologically prepared to do so.
